Do you know the orange icon with radar-like waves? Well, that’s a RSS (Really Simple Syndication) subscription icon. When you see that icon, it means there is a feed (A feed is the queue of updates you receive) you can subscribe to.
When you subscribe to a blog, it means you like its content and you want to be notified whenever it has a new blog post.
You can either subscribe to an RSS feed via email or a reader. A reader is a place where you can read the updates of all the blogs you subscribe to. If you subscribe via email, you get updates sent to your email.
When you unsubscribe from a blog, you’ll no longer receive updates from it.
Sometimes, I unsubscribe from some blogs because of these following reasons:
- The blog updates too fast and I couldn’t catch up with all the posts.
- The posts has dropped in quality.
- It suddenly changes to a whole new topic (e.g. From blogging tips to golfing tips).
Why do you unsubscribe from a blog?
So, why do you unsubscribe from a blog? What makes you unsubscribe from a blog? I’m looking forward to hear your views in the comments 🙂 .
I generally unsubcribe if the updates are too frequent as I rarely use a RSS reader mostly i go in for mails (I know I should switch).
Farrhad A’s last blog post..Killing Time? Stay Productive!
Yeah. I also unsubscribe if it updates toooo frequently.
Have you tried ‘labeling’ your subscriptions (If you use Gmail)? They help to organize a certain group of mails.
More information on how to do that is here:

Probably if the author starts drifting into topics other than what they said the blog would focus on. I don’t mind some drift, but sometimes they change completely.
Also, if the writing is poorly edited and overly wordy.

Thanks for the comment.
I don’t mind some drifts too, but changing to a completely different topic bugs me.
Poor writing bugs me too, but if the content is really quality, I won’t unsubscribe.
Because the content doesn’t interest me.
Joel Drapper’s last blog post..EasyWP – Install WordPress in Seconds!
Yeah. Sometimes, when I read a very interesting article from a blog, I subscribe. But if the new content isn’t interest me, I unsubscribe. 😛
Yes, I agree with your reasons. Sometimes when the blog is updated too frequently, my feeds get too clogged up. I think this usually happens for those blogs that have multiple authors.
And also when too many graphics are used. It takes up too much space, even when I have them in labels. Cause the window for the feed is smaller so it gets inconvenient to scroll around.
Lina’s last blog post..What types of maxi dresses do you have?
I agree with you too. I also unsubscribe if the blog posts have too many graphics. They slow down the loading process and even the computer. 😉
I unsubscribe to a blog when I find that the last several posts just aren’t interesting to me.
Maxie’s last blog post..Rain Roses
Yes, I agree. That was the reason why I unsubscribed from a few blogs lately.
I unsubscribe when I don’t find that there is any useful information for me on that blog. or it gets a bit too boring. I still keep those Graphic designers blogs in my google reader and browse through the headers before choosing what to read.
Dominique Goh’s last blog post..WW- Header and Button Designs
Yeah. I subscribe to a few tech blogs, and I browse through them in list form and choose what to read, too 😛 .
Some blogs may get boring sometimes, and run out of useful information. So, we must ask ourselves, “Will my readers benefit from this?” before posting anything.
I tend to unsubscribe if I get too much sales crap through in my inbox or RSS posts.
I also prefer RSS email signup to using a feedreader, but that is just me!
Forest’s last blog post..$5 A Day Adsense Site: Case Study – Part 2
Cool post, Gloson 😀
Personally I don’t subscribe to blogs for one main reason… I hate the look of the email you get. I’d much rather think of a blog I like and actually go to that blog to read it’s content 😛
Simon | Teenius’s last blog post..Blog Design Series: Interview With Gaya Kessler
LOL. I subscribe using a reader because
1. I get updates from the blog and I’m unlikely to miss anything (exciting).
2. I prefer to read all of the updates at once rather than spending time loading websites.
3. It is easier to keep track of the blog updates.
But I don’t like subscribing by email because it clogs up my inbox! 😛
dead blog is my answer , i will unsubscribe if i found rss never update
Earningstep’s last blog post..EziHippo | Make money by social with others | Paid to social program
if it useless blog or dead blog. I do that. Leave it because that blog not anymore give me anything.
.-= titan´s last blog ..Edisi Siasat: Apa itu MLM Shamelin? =-.
well I unsubscribe if I see so many negative comments on it.
It shows the negativity of that blog.
and this just shows the Blog owner isn’t doing much effort in his blog.
By the way,Nice meeting ya Gloson..cool kid ya are.hehe
Yeah, I would too. Your reputation and what others think of you is really important. 🙂
