Don’t you wish to download that nice video you saw on the Internet? Don’t you wish to watch it offline? Here are some ways.

KickYouTube

KickYouTube is one way to download YouTube videos.Simply type ‘kick’ before ‘youtube.com’. For example, http://youtube.com/watch/?v=dMH0bHeiRNg becomes http://kickyoutube.com/watch/?v=dMH0bHeiRNg.

After you hit enter, you will be taken to a page, exactly the same as the original page, except there are download options at the top of it.

Simply click the video format you want, and then click ‘Go’, which is near the top right of th page. Your download would begin in a moment.

Fast video download

Alternately, you can use Applian’s Fast Video Download, a add-on for firefox. After you install it on firefox, it will be displayed at the bottom right. When you are on a YouTube video, just click on the icon, and the video will be downloaded, as an .flv format.

But… there’s more to this add-on – not only it downloads videos from YouTube, but also from DailyMotion, Google Video, and some more other video sites! It can save videos from Google Video in the .avi format, though.

It also can be used to download embedded flash games (.swf), like the ones from www.pog.com and www.miniclip.com.

When it detects multiple downloadable stuff on the page, out will come a window that shows the downloadable stuff, and lets you pick which ones you want to download. Pick the one that you think is the most probable one that you want to download.
 
(I was on www.miniclip.com, at a game called ‘Deep Freeze’. The most probable file that might be the game would be ‘deepfreeze.swf’.)

To play the game, simply right click the file in your folder, and click ‘Open With’. Pick any internet browser, and your game will be displayed there.

Do you want to make your browsing life easier? There are some shortcuts that can do that. I find these shortcuts convenient and am happily using them. These shortcuts work in most browsers, especially Firefox. I don’t know whether these shortcuts work on MAC, but it certainly works on Windows. Here are the shortcuts.

Middle-clicking

I find this feature useful when you meet a page with many interesting links and want to open each in a tab. Middle-clicking the links will open them in a new tab. Then, I can read an article while the others load in other tabs.

Ctrl + Shift + T

Oh no! You’ve accidentally closed a tab! And now you have to type in the long address again? No, you don’t have you. You just have to hit Ctrl + Shift + T, and your accidentally closed tab will be opened again.

Alt + Enter

You’ve entered an address, “http://twitter.com/direct_messages” You want to open another page in a new tab. Simply type, “http://www.(thesiteyouwishtovisit).com” and hit Alt + Enter. The address will be opened in a new window.

These are the shortcuts I find convenient so far. I will update this post as soon as I find out more shortcuts I’d to share.

I’ve been using Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and I found a way to let me see all my favorite sites at once. I don’t need to click the bookmarks dropdown, just see all my favorite sites at your bookmarks toolbar. (That is what Firefox calls it.)

1. Firstly, of course, you have to make sure the bookmarks toolbar is displayed.
Just right-click the space after the ‘Help’.

Then, click on ‘Bookmarks Toolbar’ to activate it.

I’ve been using Google Chrome for some time already, and it became my default browser. I think it is pretty cool. It is very fast. I have also found out some unique features that Google Chrome has, the feature which no other browsers have.

Chrome’s Unique Features

Here is the list of Google Chrome’s unique features, the features that Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer don’t have.

1. Information on whether the site is loading or resolving

When the site is being resolved, Chrome will display this gray line, revolving slowly, counter-clockwise.
When the site is found and is being loaded, Chrome will show this blue line, revolving quickly, clockwise.

2. Task manager

Wow! A task manager inside a browser. It is just like a normal task manager, showing the processes and the memory it uses.

Here is the screen-shot of the task manager:

If your computer seems as though it is going to crash, you can open the Google Chrome task manager and see which tabs are using a lot of memory, and then end their processes so your computer won’t crash. Don’t worry. The tab won’t be closed, but instead show a crashed smiley.

If you reload that tab, the process will begin again. If you end a process such as shockwave flash, the flash object will show the crashed plugin smiley.

To open the task manager, hit ‘Shift + Esc’.

Some browsers do not display blogs and websites correctly. Sometimes, they do. Sometimes, the font is wrong. Sometimes, the blog is aligned left, or right, instead of center. Sometimes, a part of the page is gone.

In this post, I will show you a website that gives a screenshot of how your blog or website looks in other browsers (and their different versions) – Seamonkey, Safari, Opera, Blah-blah-blah.

The website, http://browsershots.org, gives you a screenshot of how your blog or website may appear in many, many different versions of many browsers, in different operating systems, such as Windows, MAC, or Linux.
