On Monday (6 October 2008), there was a…uh….something like a presentation about skills in mathematics in school.
There was a student who was bored, so he talked and then the teacher asked him to stand up. He also asked someone for a piece of paper and wrote a number on it. He folded it and then gave it to the student who was standing.
After that, he wrote numbers on a white board, like this:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0
Next, he asked the student what four numbers he hated most. Next, the teacher crossed out the numbers that he hated.
1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0
Now, the teacher asked for four numbers that he loved among 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9.
And then he crossed out the numbers mentioned.
Now, it looks like this:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0
After that, he asked for one number that he loved, and crossed it out.
Now it is:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0
And then the student unfolded the paper, and in there was written, ‘5’.
So, the teacher said that all the students should be quiet and pay attention because he can read minds. LOL!
The Secret
Well, you know what? I found out how he did that by my own! And I thought it was pretty easy.
Here are the steps:
- Write 1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0 on a piece of paper.
. - After that, randomly write a number on another piece of paper.
For now, we’ll take number 7.
. - Fold it and give it to a friend.
. - a.
Now, ask your friend what four numbers he dislikes.
If he says 1, 9, 8, and 6, erase them.
(The erased numbers are grey, the ones that are not erased are red, so that it is easy to see.)1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0b.
If your friend says 1, 6, 9, and 7, erase every number except what is mentioned. That prevents the number 7, the number that you wrote, from being erased.1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0 - a.
After that, ask your friend for four numbers that he likes the most among the ones that are not erased.
If he says 2, 3, 0, and 5, erase them.
1 2 3 4
5 6 7
8 9 0b.
1 2 3 4
Ask for two numbers (four numbers are too many) your friend likes among the numbers which are not erased.
If he says, 1 and 6, erase them.
5 6 7
8 9 0
. - a.
Now, ask your friend what one number he hates. If he says 4, erase it, so number 7 will remain. If he says 7, erase number 4, so number 7 will remain, anyway. 😀b.
Now, ask your friend what one number he hates. If he says 9, erase it, so number 7 will remain. If he says 7, erase number 9, so number 7 will remain, anyway.
. - Ask your friend to open the folded paper that you gave him/her.
See how astonished he/she is!
For example, you wrote number 3 on the paper which you give to your friend. And then your friend says he dislikes 1, 4, 7, and 2, erase them.
But if he says he dislikes 1, 4, 7, and 3, erase all the numbers except the numbers mentioned, in order to keep number 3 from being erased.
I hope you understand.
And now… use this trick to surprise your friends!
Wonderful! I like this. It’s consider a trick that trying to play around your mind. If you are not a quick learner, you will never know what the teacher does. Conclusion, you are “SMART” 🙂

Hehe. Thanks! But my friends also figured it out after I showed the trick to them a couple of times. That’s why magic tricks should only be shown once. 😛
It is very amazing trick, I will use it to my friends, This is very helpful for children to check their mind and teach them. Thanks for sharing such a nice trick.
I like this trick and i am going to do this trick with my friends. thanks for sharing here.
Math has always been a mind boggling subject and what’s more interesting is I’m learning this amazing Mind Read from such a young blogger. I didn’t get it the first time, I had to re-read the post 😉
