Why I Haven’t Been Posting Frequently in April
Hi guys
If you’ve been around Gloson Blog for a while, you’d have realized that I rarely posted on April. I’m very sorry for not posting because I was really, really, really busy with my upcoming funny poetry book for kids.
One day (13th April), as my mother flipped through the mock-up of my poetry book, she realized how plain the illustrations are (which I illustrated in December 2008), and how much it can be improved!
For example, my poem mentioned cakes and milkshakes, but there are no cakes or milkshakes in the picture! Only the main character is drawn.
Here is a shot of the before and after of the illustration of my poem, Shopping List.
Shopping List
“A bicycle,
some comic books,
a basketball,
some storybooks.
“A super robot
that’s polite,
a noisy drum,
a giant kite.
“A model of
a dinosaur,
some chocolate
and sweets galore!
"A water gun,
a large TV,
a cold ice cream
dessert for me!”
Mom looked at list,
face full of gloom.
“I won’t buy ‘til
you clean your room!”
Here’s another one; Picnic (The one with he cakes and milkshakes)
Picnic
I’m going on a picnic and
am feeling like a king.
I’m packing all the yummy stuff
that I just love to bring.
Some biscuits and a giant burger,
marshmallows and cakes,
roasted chicken and soft drinks,
some lollipops and shakes.
Some chicken nuggets, chocolate bars,
refreshing cherry punch.
Some doughnuts and potato chips
and oranges to munch.
A big umbrella, just in case
the weather becomes hot,
and now, I am prepared to drive\
to the best picnic spot.
At last I’ve made it to the spot;
I hope there are no ants.
Alas, I have to go back home
for I forgot my pants!
I’ve been working for 12 hours in a row (4pm until 4am) almost everyday for almost a month. My mother accompanied me while I worked.
It took longer than expected, because I became committed to draw every detail according to what my poems described. I was very exhausted but I wanted to finish the book as fast as possible because I wanted to help my family.
And, I didn’t go to school for almost a month for the sake of this project; my family has financial problems and I pray that this book is going to help us.
I missed a lot of lessons and now, I’ve to catch up with all the lessons and revise for my May exam (on Monday, which is tomorrow).
I probably won’t be posting much this coming week because I have to study for my May exam.
I’m really looking forward to posting quality articles for you after my exam, so stay tuned for more posts after my exam
.
Why I Haven’t Posted in a While
If you have been around Gloson Blog for a week or two, you might notice that I haven’t posted in about 11 days (I usually post once in 3 days). I have a couple of reasons why I haven’t posted, and here they are.
- I’ve been remodeling Poetry Talents, my poetry website where I can post my poems. I gave it new look. I used wordpress (I used wordpress to make a website! Cool!). I won’t post my poems on Gloson Blog anymore, but I’ll post it on Poetry Talents instead.
- I joined the handball team in my school. We practiced really hard, and we’re going to compete on Tuesday, 14 April 2009. So, I got really tired. Sometimes, we even played on evenings.
- I got a lot of homework from school recently. Sometimes, I even did my homework until 5 p.m. (School ends at 1 p.m.)
- I also worked on projects relating to my upcoming poetry book. I planned to add a little more color to the background of my poetry book front cover.
- I went to Smart Kids, the Largest Education Fair in Malaysia. It is an exhibition, where companies purchase booths to promote their products there. It lasted for 3 days (10-12 April 2009). It was very interesting and I look forward to attending it next year.
- I joined its “Who You Want to Be” competition on Sunday (I practiced on Saturday), and ended up with a constellation prize.
- I want to provide you with quality content, not short posts that have little quality. So, it might take some time to write a post.
Well, those are the reasons why I haven’t been posting regularly. I hope you will forgive me.
Because I am not very busy anymore, I look forward to posting quality content for you soon!
Update (18 April 2009): Sorry, I am still busy with my poetry book illustrations, making big improvements. I hope I will finish them soon!

He Drew Me and I Drew Him
I had asked one of my twitter friends, @Artmaker, to draw a picture of me, and he agreed. Artmaker (AKA I-Ming) is a cartoonist who is the author of the web comic strip, Fantasy Story.
A few weeks later. he emailed me his picture of me, with his signature attached.
I think it is nice, so, I decided to draw him a picture of
him in return.
I drew it with Microsoft Paint as it is not too troublesome because of scanning. I have a touch screen monitor, which makes it easier to draw him at certain points, like the hair and signature. I also used some of the features in Microsoft Paint to help with the drawing, such as the bending lines.
